In a historic event with Habitat for Humanity International building its 500,000th home, I have the distinct pleasure of going to Kenya to build that very house.  I am one of the Board of Directors of Paterson Habitat for Humanity, a local affiliate to the International Parent Organization and along with other board members and volunteers, we will be flying to Kenya on Sept. 1st for their 10 day build.

In 2007-2008, there was a political economic, and humanitarian crisis after the Kenyan presidential election where for a variety of reasons, civil unrest ensued.  Over half a million people were displaced from their homes.   The 500,000th home is one of the very homes built to help families in Kenya return to a decent home from the small tents they live in now.   See the video below to hear the story of a young woman who was displaced during this struggle.
